America is crazy. A women does shoplifting and officers shoot at her? I don't know if you guys know how insane your country is.

Dont you have some law that officers only can use deadly force when their life or someone else's life is in danger?

Not just shoplifting but literally stole a pack of diapers. People don't steal diapers for fun, that's obviously someone who was out of options, and took the only option left to her

Edit to add: apparently she didn't even steal the diapers! Some customer said they thought she did and she didn't have the receipt (because who grabs the receipt when they go and buy a single consumable item?)

Shops are also insured so it doesn't even affect the owner. Some super rich insurance company gets to pay for a new pack of diapers.

Compare this with what's going on in France, where thousands of immigrants are rioting and burning down stores and cars. Millions of dollars in damage. The police there still just use tear gas and rubber bullets and haven't killed anyone.

America is in its own league of police brutality.

You might be getting your news from Fox about France.

I dont watch TV news at all, but ive watched YouTube videos from the riots filmed by ordinary people. That's probably as close to the truth you can get without being there.

As some late night host said (Stewart?): do you think immigrants are the ones who are rioting IN FRANCE?

Let me give you a hint: one of the places they rioted was the Bastille square.

She was also driving in the direction of the police officers. What else were they supposed to do? Stand out of they way? Not shoot a one year old child?

We haven't seen the body warn yet, but the issue is why is shooting at her automatically justified in this context? Driving at officers or not. Why did officers put themselves in the position to be driven at, why not just tail her and pull her over, why not get her registration and go to her address. There are far more alternative options than (as seems to the standard) going for maximum force first.

why is shooting at her automatically justified

The cop saw her holding up a baby. He was shooting at the baby.

Presumably this was justifiable self defense because the baby was the reason the mother needed diapers and if she hadn't needed diapers the cop would not be fearing for his life at that moment

    Qualified Immunity

Im sure a bootlicker like you will absolutely adore the concept.if only the police in France could just murder who they want... right? Then the cost of living crisis will be resolved and the schools will be fully funded.

I blame the liberal gun laws. Because everyone potentially could be armed police officers constantly feel life threatened.

    That's no excuse.

Soldiers being sent into literal combat against enemy troops have rules of engagement that don't allow them to fire unless fired upon. Why do police dealing with civilians have less-strict rules of engagement?

Not to mention other countries also having crime, and criminals with guns. They don't use their weapons against people who are not a danger to anyone.

The mentality in America is difficult to understand from the outside. It's very evil.

It's difficult from the inside too.

The problem is people here are used to it being "the way things are" so they don't go through the mental exercise of trying to understand it. It's seen as perfectly normal, so it's never questioned.

In the US the sky is blue, water is wet, and police are assumed to have been justified any time they kill someone.
