The interesting thing about music is that tastes changes over time, and it is rather fun to find a song you hated when released, which you now love, sometimes partily due to the fact that you hated it in the first place.

Another issue with AI music is that it can't really surprise you, if everything is generated for you, the created music will just become more and more narrow in scope as you keep listening to the same slop causing the models to keep regurgitating the same shit, but more "refined".

There are plenty of times when I have heard a completely new song from a genre I haven't really liked before, only now, i love it.

    That's me and Linkin Park. Used to think it's such a broody and edgy music but once in adulthood it's became more and more relatable. The reverse is true for music i once loved and now it sound so janky.

    When did you realized that their music was crawling in your skin? Or was it because you were numb to their music when you were younger? Does that mean that in the end, your first impression to music doesn't even matter?

    See, now I'm the opposite with Linkin Park. As a kid/teen I loved them. Hybrid Theory was the one CD I had that I knew would appeal to almost everyone who was riding in the same car as me.

    As I got older, I started understanding the lyrics more and more. There's so much pain embedded in that album. I listen to the lyrics and I hear somebody who's been severely hurt, who's writing and singing out their emotions, which have no other place to go.

    Then Chester Bennington offed himself, and now the pain jumps out at me with the same intensity as the light from an on-coming headlight. I haven't been able to listen to Linkin Park since 2017 for that reason. All I hear now is a suffering man that can't be helped, and it tears me apart.

    Maybe some day things will change again. Perhaps I'm still in mourning. A time may come where I listen to Linkin Park and feel more of a nostalgic joy, or a sense of respect due to knowing what hell Chester endured as he created something incredible. I'm just not there yet.
