One advantage of modern TVs is how slim they are. It's so crazy to me now how much space those old TVs took up. You just had a big TV stand sticking out from the wall.

And CRTs are unbelievably heavy in comparison, making them a bitch to move at all.

That anger when the specs didn't include the screen bulge in the depth measurement and now you can't close the armoire door after carrying that shit 50 feet from the car.

The screen bulge alone in that pic is at least 3 times wider than my TV. It's amazing what 2 decades of technology can do. Now, if we could just figure out how to make an LED TV than didn't have a network card...

Often the non-smart hospitality TVs don't have the more advanced features you'd want for a home TV like HDR and the like, but I gotta admit that one looks quite decent. Can't see any Dolby Vision support though.

Don't look up Hospitality Mode, unless you want to end up on a list.

Ok, what that slang stands for?

That's not slang, that's the official term for the mode that hotels/hospital lock their televisions into, so you can't use any other inputs except the approved channels the hotel offers.

If you try looking up how to disable Hospitality Mode on YouTube, you'll get stopped right in your search tracks to confirm your identity as an official hotel/hospital/public building owner/manager.

Oh, wow. Though I wonder if it is regional or maybe it only works when you connect from hotel's IP I just tried it and YouTube didn't ask me for anything (I was not logged in either). I also use uBlock, which I suppose could potentially block that, depending how the block is implemented.

BTW: the videos I found on YouTube didn't work with my TV, I truck duck duck go (also did not need to prove who I am) and first page had a working combo.

Oh, the one I have is a Samsung something or other, I think like 32 inch diagonal, was donated to my roommate from a food pantry donation center. Not about to dig it back out of the closet right now though.

I have not only a universal remote, but also a modded PSP1001 with irShell, and yes I have the knowledge to reverse engineer the infrared protocol, even to the point of finding factory codes that don't even exist on the original remote.

Anyways, I don't think this is a regional thing, it's more of a lockout, like no HDMI, no RCA, no antenna TV, no channel searches, you just get the standard hotel preprogrammed cable TV with like only 6 channels.

All the other features exist, just locked out in the current state. Not parental lock either, I verified the parental lock code as default 0000, so the Hospitality Mode is something different altogether.

I'll see about getting back to it sometime next week, I don't wanna be flagged for searching info on this too much in the same day. I might try searching on DuckDuckGo and Grayjay sometime next week.

All I want is to set it up for free antenna TV..

I distinctly recall Sony's 40" Trinitron CRT weighing over 300 lbs. The 32" was ~200 lbs.

I'm using an old console TV that I've modified to hold a flat screen. I literally have a home server and a sound bar built into it the space that was originally just the tube and there's still enough space for my full grown ass to climb inside.

Yeah, but you could use them as a shelf.

Put stuff on top of them (just be careful when watering the plants).
