I dunno, AI is a tool like anything else. We don't outright ban calculators, but we do (or did, I'm old) stop kids from using calculators while they learn the basics then introduce them at appropriate ages with appropriate training (much simpler for calculators).
It's probably fine to ban AI so long as it's for an interim period while they come up with an effective curriculum to teach kide the manual methods for things they might automate, how to setup local models, the appropriate use cases in most professional settings and how to correctly verify answers and sources and when that might be important.
