Congress passed a symbolic resolution on Tuesday to condemn socialism — a move that saw eight Democrats cross the aisle to back the GOP on the measure.
The vote, which has no actual effect on public policy, was swiftly mocked by observers on social media.
"Voting to condemn an economic system that doesn’t exist in our country, to protect the one which we live under that exploits the working class to benefit the obscenely wealthy," wrote Melanie D'Arrigo, executive director of Campaign for New York Health. "This was Congress’ priority as 60% of Americans struggle to afford food, housing and healthcare. Embarrassing."
Oh? Well that's good then. The DSA is the only active political group we have that's giving at the bare minimum lip service to taking care of the population instead of enriching billionaires. If that's a threat to a party, then that party sucks and shouldn't be in charge of anything.
