[+] Gladaed@feddit.org -6 points 20 hours ago (3 children) Forcing actors to grow body hair in their more intimate areas should not be a virtue. That's weird and over the line and you should be ashamed. It's a movie. It's not a realistic story and shown through a camera, not someone's real eyes. Suspend your disbelief or leave. permalink fedilink source hideshow 6 child comments replies: [–] toas3r@lemmy.ml 16 points 18 hours ago Unless I'm missing a comment from the poster, I don't think there's an argument being made to force this actor to grow body hair just for this role. Just that it's odd that they'd go through the effort in makeup to make them appear dirty and unkempt, but don't bother to include body hair. It's a common practice in makeup to add beards to men to give them a more unkempt appearance, but not armpit or leg hair on women even though most adult women grow hair in these areas. permalink fedilink source parent [–] remon@ani.social 26 points 20 hours ago* (1 child) Right ... no need to grow it. You can just attach some fake hair. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] warm@kbin.earth 14 points 20 hours ago (3 children) Exactly, but even so, it's an actors job, many lose weight, gain muscle, grow hair, lose hair, all the time for the role. Such a strange thing to be angry about, let the actors decide themselves lmao. What's with the new trend of people getting offended on behalf of others? permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 6 child comments replies: [–] Agent641@lemmy.world 6 points 20 hours ago If Christian Bale wants to make himself look like Skeletor for a role, that's his choice. permalink fedilink source parent [–] remon@ani.social 5 points 20 hours ago Yup, totally with you. permalink fedilink source parent [+] Gladaed@feddit.org -9 points 20 hours ago (3 children) It's ok if they do it. It's not ok to be mad if they don't go far enough. Are you going to cripple the house actor for realisms sake? Creating these demands and expectations is not ok. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 6 child comments replies: [–] warm@kbin.earth 1 point 9 hours ago (1 child) You are forgetting that acting is a job. One the actors have the freedom to decide and negotiate their terms. It's perfectly reasonable for a character to have armpit hair, even if that personally offends you. The actor can decide what to do with the director or whomever. You dont need to project your own opinions onto some random actor, they have their own. Also, it is absolutely fucking okay to expect consistency in a film/show. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Gladaed@feddit.org 1 point 9 hours ago I don't expect them to have shaven armpits.
