MODERATORS
I had never even heard of an em-dash until I started reading comments about AI using them. I had always just used a hyphen in the same way. Since I like to think of myself as an educated writer, I started using them. Now people think I'm AI lol.

I never even heard it called an em dash until it came up in these AI discussions, it was always a double dash as I knew it.
