I do think that both cars and motorcycles should have way stricter noise restrictions, which might very well spell the end of ICE motorcycles because the technology is inherently loud even when they aren't making noise on purpose. permalink fedilink source parent [–] nutbutter@discuss.tchncs.de [S] 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 child) You should visit India sometime permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] W98BSoD@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 point 2 weeks ago Nope! permalink fedilink source parent [–] moopet@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 weeks ago Challenge accepted permalink fedilink source parent [–] crazyslinkz@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 child) The reason motorcycles are allowed to filter is many years ago they were all air cooled. More power to the riders and stay safe out there. permalink fedilink source parent [+] Grail@multiverse.soulism.net -12 points 2 weeks ago (2 children) Stop signs exist to compensate for blind spots. At some intersections, the angle and the speed limit line up such that a car will remain hidden in the front blind spot behind the roof support beam until it's too late to avoid a crash. These intersections are rare, but they're the only appropriate place to put stop signs. Most stop signs are put in due to poor traffic planning and political unwillingness to implement proper traffic calming, and do little to improve safety. Motorcycles do not have roof support beams, do not have front blind spots, and thus have no use for stop signs. They shouldn't be required to stop at stop signs. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] rmuk@feddit.uk 9 points 2 weeks ago (2 children) No. Just fucking no. Stop signs exist because it's not possible to evaluate if the junction is safe to pull into without stopping and looking around first, and then making sure you're moving into the junction slowly by starting from stationary rather than launching into the middle of the road at 20mph. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] eightys3v3n@lemmy.ca 1 point 2 weeks ago In the UK they rarely ever use stop signs apparently.
