I don't think wealth taxes are too far left for Americans. I think the ownership class is just willing to flood social media and television with propaganda against wealth tax, which influences elections.

That's what they're doing already in California, and we'd really, really, like to keep Medi-cal when the OBBBA gutted Medicaid nationwide.

PS: Serious issues on the far left that are too spicy for Americans are things like abolishing the police and abolishing prisons.

And there are some valid points. Law Enforcement in the US has regarded the general population as the enemy for a long time (we have miles of receipts of internal documents) and while police are first responders, they don't bring first-aid expertise to the situation (that would be firefighters and ambulance) but they do bring guns. And police in the 20th century are not trained to de-escalate situations, rather are trained to shoot early, even when suspects are unarmed and not resisting.

And the US and state corrections systems are all literal crimes against humanity, including the facilities that are not for-profit. We have a higher incarceration rate than any other nation in the world. Prisoners can be forced to work, and they are, so it's become a profit-driven institution.
