The pedant in me has to point out that Big Ben is the great bell of the Westminster clock. The tower in which it's housed is the Elizabeth Tower.
And the realist in me says that no one outside Britain knows what Elizabeth Tower is. And probably half of Britain.
When I was in London back in the late 90s everyone referred to “it” as Big Ben BUT most folks just didn’t refer to it unless being asked about it.
Like. School kids knew it. But everyone else kept living their life.
Just like everyone there secretly knows how to use imperial units but pretends when anyone who doesn’t know metric is about.
Don’t be accepting of ignorance.
