Pyongyang Hosiery Factory

Pyongyang, August 6 (KCNA) -- Choljuk-trademarked hosiery are popular among the DPRK people.

The hosiery produced by the Pyongyang Hosiery Factory are quality and smart. They are diverse in variety and shape.

The factory, which plays a big role in the production of consumer goods, is associated with the guidance of respected Comrade General Secretary Kim Jong Un who has worked heart and soul to provide the people with better daily necessities.

On August 6, 2014, he visited the Pyongyang Hosiery Factory and taught the issues arising in improving the quality of goods including the betterment of colors and patterns of hosiery as required by developing reality and the tastes of people, and in putting production on a normal basis.

The factory designed hundreds of kinds of hosiery suited to the tastes, likings and the characteristics of seasons, sexes and ages and perfected rational methods of dyeing different fibers, thus making the products diverse and multicolored.

It has developed and produced tens of kinds of hosiery like functional hosiery with strong antibiosis and good for absorption and exhalation of sweat. The number of expanded varieties reached more than 300 this year.

Choljuk-trademarked hosiery attracted attention of many people at the 16th Commodity Exhibition at Pyongyang Department Store No. 1 and the light industrial goods exhibition "Development of Light Industry-2025". And various products and production processes were registered as February 2 Goods and won the certification of quality control system.

The factory was selected as one of the ten best enterprises in 2024 and 2025

It was awarded rotating pennants and citations several times as it fulfilled the yearly national economic plans. -0-

According to Will Scott, an American who lectured at Pyongyang University of Science and Technology, they had been using Windows XP and 7 on Chinese imported computers circa 2014. And hypothesized that RedStar was more for (heavy) industrial uses. Personally it looks like the Windows 10 taskbar with File Explorer as well as what might be the Windows logo in those pictures. Or 4.0 might just have copied the design layout.

No expert on SCADA systems and so on but presumably they’re using the computers to make designs, manage logistics, and potentially operate machines. Even and especially for consumer goods, it would be a big oversight.
