How are you supposed to know if you'll like a book if you can't read some of it.

It had a nice little cafe too, its not like they won't make money on people buying a few coffees and snacks as they read a book they might not buy.

Maybe you know the title of the book you're looking for (e.g. you have already read it or heard about it) and just need the title?

i dunno, it just hits me wrong, I also refuse to "go find an associate" to get socks out of lockup. I'll buy them online from a competitor and have them shipped to my house before i get out of the aisle.

Shop local when you can. Online is narrowing a market and once there's only one place to buy they can control the price.

When it comes to books pay the author if you can, publisher second if you have to, and online retailer last.

If I can look in the book, sure.

Hell if there's just one of each open. sure.

Any brick and mortar bookstore that does that shit will go out of business screaming people don't want to read anymore.

I'll go to con and buy a book from an author. I'll buy it from their website. I'll go to a book signing.

They want to shrink wrap all their shit. I'm not down for the bullshit games. Plastic waste for sake of waste, or are they trying to make sure that noone picks up a book and reads from it? I don't really care why. I just know i'd walk the f out of there and not go back.

Wrapping in plastic is never an authors choice, and I fully support you avoiding a place that does that.

Not everyone can spend the big money for cons, some will grab what is the most affordable. Hopefully that means a local shop without that wrap, but someone reading any way they can is the most important start.
