as with everything, per capita is incredibly important… australia has twice the per capita renewable capacity as china… US is actually only about 100w/capita behind china (about 15%)

china just has a massive population, so you’d expect their government to necessarily build more power - which is to say nothing about their industrial capacity which, again, necessitates a larger total capacity

per capita or renewables mix is far more relevant than total capacity

none of that is a dig at china of course: they’re still doing better than most countries! but let’s not hold them up as a shining beacon when they’re just doing better than average. we can find better examples of success to copy
