Finally addressing the controversy, Sony says it "put in a lot of thought and time" into this decision.

I mean, Sony themselves had previously announced they were closing the digital PlayStation Stores for PS3, PSP, and Vita consoles back in 2021. The backlash was so great that that changed their minds and kept the stores open. Just last month they finally announced that they will be closing these stores in 2027. So it is not unheard of for Sony to respond to feedback.

I still don't have any hope on this case.
