That image is more out of date than the save floppy disk 💾 icon... Yet I never see it compared or mentioned.
I can't even name the object it represents. I get it's an oil can... But is that the name? It's like an oil teapot.
P.S did some of them have a flame? They they were also torches that predate electricity?
Oil can. That's what the Tin Man asks for.
It's different than an oil lamp, which is basically just a candle in liquid form with a piece of cloth or rope as the wick and which may or may not contain genies.

Do people not know what an oil lamp is? The retelling of genie stories in various modern forms surely must make this object recognizeable in modern culture. There’s even some emojis for this. 🧞🪔

But you pose an interesting question - even when idiot lights first appeared (1960's) - surely this would've already been an outdated icon.
By then the standard automotive oil can would've been the cardboard cylinder and oil spout
