!nostupidquestions is a community dedicated to being helpful and answering each others' questions on various topics.
The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

i noticed the chances of getting summons at least my states is based on your voter registration, how often you voted, 2nd most common is how recent you renewed or got a new license/state id, or changed something in your DMV records. less commonly they go look your utility records. less commonly i read that people who moved away but thier address is still at a different state/or county they just ignore it. one time i got 3 summons in ONE year after voting/DMV change. so many people reported the same thing.
people have ignored or threw away subsequent summons and never got any serious consequences. most of the time they dont call your number on thier jurduty website anyways. in other forums , they said small counties/towns are more likely to go after jurors that ignore the summons.
i went to one last sept, it was very annoying 1st 2 days was just roll calling people to be selected to sit in the jury room, then spend the whole day going through peoples biases, that can go for as long as a whole week depending on the CASE.
we were in vore dire, and lasted several days, they only quickly selected a jury because they got anxious people were using too many biases drawing out the vore dire. some people cant afford to attend JD in any form due to financial reasons.
they spend hours upons talking about the "case' no-specifically and then go through everyones biases, after making people say thier jobs/professions, it can be awkward if you are making very little money compared to the other jurors.
most of the time they give you number for your group to check online, most people dont get chosen.
the best chances are if you are near the last day of the week, like friday, thur or chosen just before a holiday.
