I watched 'Inland Empire' and 'Blue Velvet' (read the content warning labels first) and I have no idea what these movies are about or what they're trying to tell me. I had the same feeling with watching Chainsaw Man. d; Does anyone know what these movies are supposed to be about?

Terrible horrors behind the facades of suburban Americana. Mulholland Drive and Twin Peaks are probably better introductions.

I finally watched Mulholland Drive a year ago and it instantly became an all-time favourite.
Blue Velvet is also a fine entry point IMO, it’s not that ambiguous at all.
Inland Empire is scary but you definitely need to go into it accepting that there are no tidy answers and explanations.

What confused you about Blue Velvet? It's a rather straightforward one as far as Lynch goes.

I did not understand the plot at all, I could not get what the message of the movie was. ;~; Maybe i'm just bad at understaning movies, but your other comment helps explain it

I didn't find it all that ambiguous lol, not compared to Inland Empire
