My language has no "it". There's no way to refer to objects without pronouns. We don't think of objects as people.
I think that, because English speakers have access to the handy "it", they give too much importance to pronouns.
Yup, in french we use the same pronouns for things and people, and every object has a gender. We don't overthink that kind of detail.
