My coping mechanism: when I feel that I am going to be overwhelmed by bad news or the cruelty for the sake of it.
This makes me realise that the best I can do for the system is, sadly, ignore the problem. Not because I don’t care but for a strategic effort in doing what I can
I know plenty of people who use that logic to avoid feeling emotions about the state of the world, but then they never do anything to actually help the state of the world. Not saying this is you, it’s just a discouraging trend and I think that actually the people who get most upset about things they cannot change are often the only ones who end up making an effort to change them.
If there is something that can be done, well then it means that I have some control.
If all I can do is burn myself out… it would not make the world better
