If it's entirely up to us to provide human rights to ourselves, and the huge proportion of people who can't do that and therefore don't have a supposed human right are brushed off as personal failures rather than systemic, then sure seems like human rights don't actually mean anything.
That's what the kinds of people who say insane things like "everyone should secure their own human rights" want. For human rights to mean nothing so no one will slow down their quest for unearned income. The fact that the people saying it the loudest are also the people who never have and never will own any capital to use to rent-seek is one of Capitalism's greatest ironies.
