There are certainly a few lines that make the book seem like a "product of its time" for lack of a better phrase. I think it really shows her blind spot as a American living at that time, how normalised racial segregation was that it isn't even a topic she broaches, either because she didn't even consider it herself, or because she didn't want to alienate an American audience by speaking about it.
Yep, and Marxists have moved on to understand the US Empire as a settler-colony. This is critical to contemporary analysis, and is a weakness so far in Strong's work. Nevertheless, Strong's work is wonderful for elaborating on the nature of soviet society.
