Counterpoint:
Carney effectively enacting a conservative agenda would get lefties to uncompromisingly vote NDP and probably shift a part of the centre-left in the same direction. An effect similar to what's happening to the UK Labour vote going to the UK Greens.
IMO NDP did not leverage their deal with the LPC enough to undo the PR damage of propping up the LPC. Yes they accomplished some good health improvements for our social safety net, but those benefits don't apply to the majority of Canadians. As such they gained minimally from it.
I'm sorry to have to say this but given the record levels of racism towards south asians, having a visibly sikh party leader probably didn't help.
Like ultimately the NDP failed because it catered too much to LPC voters IMO. Hopefully Avi Lewis can get the party back on track.
Definitely Sikh party leader did not help. If Avi Lewis had been leader, the wouldn't have fallen as far down as they have this past election. Avi has been very positive, for me, at least.
