Wtf? That's all I really can say. Like what are they thinking? Do they actually believe what they're saying? For their sake I almost hope they know what they are talking about, and doing it out of malice. If not, that's horrifying the level of intelligence these individuals possess....
My interpretation: they're so invested in this not being climate change that they grasp at any other interpretation. They've tied their political identities to climate change denial, so when something is obviously caused by climate change (i.e. forest fires blanketing a continent in smoke, which never happened for hundreds of years and is now happening repeatedly in a single decade), they instead decide that the problem must be "forest management" or some shit. They have to blame Canada so they can continue the fossil fuel grift.
