Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
So this money is shared between faith groups? People of Jewish faith get £250mil for themselves and I imagine more over the next few years.
They do indeed sound like the ‘special’ minority. Maybe it’s all the government lobbying (meddling) Isreal does to get them special treatment.
You can’t ignore the fact Muslims always have especially more recently been at the receiving end of a lot of unjustified hate. Where is their additional hundreds of millions in funding?
No, the £40 million is for Muslim community centres, it's just part of a larger scheme. I don't know how you got to that reading.
You understand that this is a deeply fucked up thing to say, right? There has been a genuine rise in antisemitic hate crime in the UK and the idea that the governments actions to address that must be because of Israel not only makes Israel look good, it unjustly links British Jews to Israel.
I agree that the government isn't doing anywhere near enough to protect Muslims, but that isn't the question I was responding to. It was about funding for Mosque security with the implication that it was 0, which it's not.
You literally said to fund places of worship. I didn’t realise that was a Muslim exclusive term.
Look at the amount of funding that goes to political parties coming from Isreal not just in the Uk but globally. How was this cash injection affected policy? I’d argue looking at the UK and US that the effect is huge. If it wasn’t a thing there wouldn’t have been a debate about it in parliament last month.
If even you can admit they’re not doing enough to support a faith who have been the target of hate crimes since the early 2000s you can’t really be defensive when someone calls you out on the funding discrepancy.
