Just like Google phones for GrapheneOS, buy secondhand. You're not giving the company a cent and you get to use something cool.

I don't like how on Lemmy nothing is good enough, and I DO support this proposal if you need a new phone. However, to clarify this comment: by buying someone else's phone, you are enabling the other person to get a newer model for less money, indirectly also contributing to a new purchase

This is an assumption you make, the second-hand eBay seller could just as easily turn around and use the profits on the second-hand market again.

I say this from my own personal experience though. I understand many just want a discount on the iPhone 256, but the assumption alone that buying second-hand actually encourages others to buy new is a bit too silly for me.
