That was always the excuse hardminded right wing voters used to justify their wants. That's why it was a joke back then and continues to now: no one calls out conservatives for their lies.
Absolutely, the police officer should just accept being run over is being part of their job and quit their whining! OR.... now hear me out.... You know what gets me? I live in China. A literal brutal dictatorship. And CHINESE COPS are less feared here than ICE is in the USA. (And better trained, better disciplined, and generally better human beings. Which itself should be a shock.)
I'm not shocked to hear that. I think it's also like 9/11 .. with the benefits of oceans between us and Eurasia, there's always a bigger shock to "how could that happen here?" Bc the news is always elsewhere..bc we're always elsewhere with the whole imperial shit.
The older and more mainstream I get, the more I realize how similar our countries really are. It's just the collectivism vs individualism culturally but we're not that different.
My best friends were 1st gen Chinese most of my childhood and in my 40s my best friend where I live is too. Dude- we're all the same. They just shove our differences down our throats to divide us and distract us from the only real war.

Or here's a crazy thought use any method of deescalation that doesn't lead with killing innocent civilians.
Also you know actually taking in people you mean to instead of accidentally detaining legal US citizens for months to years at a time to the point the courts are forced to intervene.
Or better yet how about they actually adhere to the letter of the law and do any of this through the courts.
If you're an extrajudicial enforcement officer who's willing to kidnap civilians and place them in an internment camp, you do not deserve the benefit of the doubt, and the fact that you're standing up for them is honestly sickening.
Absolutely! And when ICE goons are driving vehicles, it's a-okay to blast them in the face with your gun in self-defense, and if they don't like it, they can stop using vehicles to assault people.
