The fascists have defunded scientific research wherever they could while China has been spending freely and encouraging advancement. If you are a top scientist, the US is not your best option at the moment.

The critical thinking skills need for science could be detrimental to any plans to permanantly disorient humanity with half-truths, lies, and other culture-busting forms of disorientation.
