Then the right's preferred policies are:

  • Unaffordable child care
  • Unlivable wages
  • Unmitigated grocery price increases
  • Rich don't pay their fair share
  • Unrestricted utility bill increases to fund private corporations ambitions

You forgot the big part that drives these people to consistently vote against their own interests: they've been told certain groups are the reason they experience difficulty and discomfort and, if elected, their politicians will punish these people.
