A key concept when trying to understand how Repubs and Dems are not that different. A lot of people just end up supporting the teams their parents followed
100% this. Some kids get rebellious and join the "other" team but most find other outlets for it and just go further to one extreme for better or worse. I for one had to admit my mom was right and Obama turned out to be a piece of shit and I fell for it, but it's hard when your mom is also an anti-vaxx weirdo with a lot of racist brainworms of the white hippy kind.
