Compared with the median worker in Korea, sure. They’re getting 5-10 years salary.
Compared with peers in the same industry, they’re behind economically. But they’re ok with that, as AI is a bubble and this kind of money is only here for a couple years at most. Besides, the money-motivated can always get a job at another competitor down the line.
What "peers in the industry" are getting a quarter of a million dollar bonus, just out of interest?
SK Hynix or Micron are paying better, which is why a strike was threatened. Also, Samsung workers were worried about varying pay rates between different product lines within the company. Those were the 2 reasons.
