About time Russia re-established deterrence. Russia has allowed Ukraine way too much lenience to launch drones, including out of other NATO countries like Latvia (which obviously makes Latvia a direct participant in the war and a valid target).

On the end of the day Ukraine is still a western proxy though, so Russia "punishig" Ukraine for something the west is responsible just means more certainty for the western regimes that they can do whatever they want against Russia through their puppet without worry to themselves. So although such attacks might be tactically and somewhat strategically good for Russia their political gain is actually a cost in the long run as nothing but direct attacks against the western regimes will dissuade them from an escalating against Russia.

I don't think this changes the equation much.
