...i think we're talking across each other: my point is that the majority of american workers currently commute home after dark in the dead of winter (as do i at 30° latitude, with most of the population north of me), so more than half of the country don't even see the sun set...
I haven't been in America for a year and a half, but the data says otherwise. Are you in a cloudy area?
...how late do you think americans work?..average winter sunset is 17.30 at 30° latitude...
5pm is standard, throw in 30-45 minute commute, I'd wager roughly half of americans have better conditions, half worse.
...i've not seen anyone leave at 17.00 in the private sector for thirty-five years...
