it's definitely an all-hands-on-deck situation for the imperial propaganda machine.
the US-Iran conflict, as defined by the events if this spring, has been a unique event in my lifetime... where state messaging and popular interpretation are world's apart, have been since the start, and threaten to grow further apart each day.
not only is the war unpopular, not only is it javing immediate material consequences at home, each day, that people experience as directly connected... most damaging: the invreasing perception is that the US is not winning and cannot win.
i think the dem establishment was happy to let MAGA eat the shit sandwich so long as it held space for the dems to eventually take over the conflict and conduct it "correctly". but now that is under threat, the ironclad bipartisan consensus of zionism, saber rattling against iran, and control over the gulf state monarchies all seem to be on shaky ground.
they have got to find a way to reframe the entire story and fast. a pro-military michael bay circle jerk is the lowest hanging fruit probably.
Except it isn't the early 2000s anymore and I don't know if anyone except the True Believers will be swayed by a Michael Bay movie, especially since almost every movie now has his same overreliance on shitty CG effects and vapid dialogue and characters. He just doesn't bring anything to the table anymore, the whole industry is like that now.
i guess what i meant by low hanging fruit is that its the easiest and cheapest. slop script in a week, attach the regular gang and under contract, 6-8 weeks of production, the government kicks in what... 20 mil toward the studio that will either make money on their end or write down the loss. either way, the studio system gets a payday.
and certainly nobody who engages with media critically is going to buy it, but it will give some cover and some bulletpoints to repeat like a mantra for self soothing. like the benghazi movie did for libya or zero dork thirty did for torture, or ameroid sniper did for iraq.
these movies aren't there to convince anyone of anything, but rather to keep an extra million burger chewers from straying outside the Thank You For Your Service line.
