It's so fucking fascinating to me that birds are dinosaurs. Birds aren't just "technically" dinosaurs. There's no catch to the statement whatsoever. They are dinosaurs.
We were all taught as kids that dinosaurs went extinct 65 million years ago, and that's just flat out wrong. Dinosaurs never went extinct, and that's just so fascinating to me for some reason. Dinosaurs still exist.
And birds are fucking weird so the whole thing just fits like a glove for me, no suspension of disbelief needed! Like it's not just merely technically accurate, they seem really alien to me.
And then a few of em like the Shoebill, Cassowary, etc. are just self-evidently prehistoric nightmare fuel. Literally.
