Library? You can even request they order stuff, typically.
Only library is my college and I don't want a record of marxist theory connected to me in such an obvious way. It doesn't help that I am at one of the most conservative colleges in America. Once I get the hell out of here absolutely. Love libraries with all my heart.
I don't find this a compelling excuse.
We cannot live in so much fear. Opsec is one thing but at some point you become your own jailer.
Eta: this video is actually about going to the library and it was made just for you https://hexbear.net/post/8331075
mix the theory with dreck like the clinton or mccain biographies to cover your tracks
then fuck it and start printing books,
I am actually high key considering getting tools for book binding so I can make custom books. It would go so hard and I need a hobby that uses my hands
It's attually very easy!

I mead this using some thread, a needle, starch based glue and pva glue, no special tools needed. Two vices, two boards to press it and a soft hammer to shape the spine.
Also I hape no craft skill and this was my first attempt so don't let how it actually came out discourage you
What does the latex for something like that look like?

oh the latex is 100% unecessary and overengineered because i get lost in it sometimes, having page headers on A5 is not even a good design choice...
anyway:
what overcomplicates this was that I put multiple books into one, so... the books themselves didn't have much styling though because I wanted to solve it all in the
main.texfile so as to not hunt through all 4 books whenever I made a changeThe opening of "State and revolution" then was
If you want I can send you the files over matrix or smth.
This is baller as hell. Did you write this from scratch or start from a template?
thanks, I wrote it from scratch it's like 40% making a title-page for the sub-books and messing with the section/chapter headings. Tbh the default KOMAscript settings are fine. They're made with A4 in mind, so maybe some resizing here and there might be necessary but otherwise it was me going overboard. Like having a page header with the chapter on every page makes an A5 page feel cluttered since it's already fairly small.
You are being way too hard on yourself!! This is extremely cool and I think it looks great.
How much ink / paper did you go through? Or did you have it printed somewhere?
aw thanks, it's ~300 pages so ~75 sheet of paper and I have a laser printer so it was really cheap I'm not even sure how much toner got used
This is fucking rad comrade
aw thanks, if you go bookbinding (it's a lot of fun) then i can recommend https://dasbookbinding.com/ great tutorials especially about cardboard warp
Very interesting! (has never used latex and underestimated it)

Its software that is almost half a century old lol. It's really cool and there is nothing better for typesetting in, but it's definitely from back in the day when people tought of programming languages in terms of "slightly more sophisticated turing machines". Also that's a file that got stitched together for this one project, it's not meant to be structured or even readable đ
I mean the good news is you don't actually do any programming in usually so it's not that hard to pick up.
I used to print bootleg scans of books (there was a glitch with my college account where I got infinite printing!), 3 hole punch them, and bind them in cardboard and shoelace!
marxists.org?
Not physical media. Or will cost some if you want to buy them.

Regularly read from there but I like having a physical copy too
Ah yeah, sucks. You've got my sympathies.
Can you read the books at the library instead of checking them out?
Yes, and sometimes I do if they have the one I am looking for. There is only really Marx, lenin, and Mao. I still want a physical copy though because admittedly I just like hoarding books.
We should start a mail a book program.
Ask your library about their privacy policy. Many (most?) have a opt-in or opt-out history policy for patrons because they are also against digital surveillance. The ALA publicly opposed the PATRIOT Act for instance.
I still have the perusall book club available, i'd just have to extend enrollment access again.
