Because its a lose-lose scenario. Either we cut off funding and have no reliable ally in the middle eastern proxy war between the west and the east, which will lead to less diplomacy and more radicalization over time, or we back a radical and hostile regime.
I think a good solution would be to keep defending Israel militarily but start sending their officials to the hague for starting wars and genocides, but since the DNC lack that power now and Biden was super soft on Israel it hasn't happened.
It's also a key issue for foreign interests such as China and Russia who promote it with psyops which illegitimizes the entire opposition movement.
This presupposes that such a "war" needs to be fought at all.
Not much of a choice, even in times when Europe and the USA have taken minimal actions they'd face harassment by groups like Al Qaeda, ISIS, Hezbollah, or Houthis.

When the USA and Europe turned a blind eye to Saddam Hussein it led to them holding a military expansion campaign throughout the 80s and in 1990 during the Gulf War. In the 1990s the USA had several trade alliances, namely Saudi Arabia, but otherwise minimal involvement in the middle east but then 5 plane hijackings by mostly Saudi Arabian born terrorists hit notable US Infrastructure such as the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
Fucked if we do and fucked if we don't, the only way to end the proxy war is if the USA/Europe or Russia/China lose directly and not indirectly.
In the '80s and '90s, the US and Europe were actively arming and supporting their settler-colonial project named "Israel." Ditto for the 2000s through today, as well as going from the '70s all the way back to 1948. Even further back, from 1920 to 1948, the British were administering that colony more directly, under the name "Mandatory Palestine." Immediately before that, Europe was fighting, defeating, and partitioning the Ottoman Empire.
Oh and by the way, Britain was also controlling Egypt at that time, having occupied it during the Anglo-Egyption War starting in 1882 and not giving it up until 1956. And let's not forget about India, either, including the part that would later become Pakistan. Britain's colonial interests there led them to become adversaries with Russia over their spheres of influence in central Asia, including fighting various wars in Persia and Afghanistan in the 1800s.
So yeah, by my reckoning, "Europe and the USA" (but mostly Britain until after WWII) have been fucking with the Middle East CONTINUOUSLY AND WITHOUT EVEN A SINGLE DAY OF PAUSE for 200+ years. And that figure is only because that's as far back as I care to list, not as far back as the colonialism goes!

"The reliable ally" is the main reason for the lack of other allies in the region, and for the increased radicalization in the area. So your argument doesn't make sense.
It's like the fire department supporting the fire burning a building to keep the building safe. The "radicalization" happens to actual human beings because their lives got destroyed since childhood and they had no chance because of the "military" you want to keep defending. Maybe give the Humans a chance to grew up properly, with access to hospitals, education, and decent living, and then try diplomacy with them first? Not keep destroying every chance then be surprised they're lashing back, and use that as an execuse to keep the pressue on them when that's literally the reason for the issues in the first place.
That's why the rest of the world hates America. Their culture is so self cantered, they don't even see others who aren't like them as humans just like them. So toxic and I'm sick of it.
The USA and Europe has attempted friendly relations and military cooperation with many other nations such as Iraq, Quwait, Afghanistan, and Saudi Arabia. All the listed examples have severely backfired. I think something should be done about Israel, but feeding them to the wolves will not resolve the wolf problem.

You are saying the west have to support a settler colonial power because China and Russia are imperialism although China and Russia has decent relation with Israel . There is no future where the USA and Europe completely withdraws from the middle east which does not include massive expansion of eastern operations in the region including psyops, invasions, wars, etc and only ending when one autocracy stands above all others.
I support Ukraine's right to defend itself against Russia, I support Taiwan's right to defend itself against China. The only one who supports settler colonialism is you. Israel maintains good relations with China and Russia, and yet you continue to defend Western support for a colonial power that wants to exterminate Palestinians from their land.
