A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF OCTOBER 19 2025
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

Does anybody care that Drop Site's author and founder Ryan Grim supported Graham Platner, who has a skull-and-bones tattoo resembling the Nazi Schutzstaffel's symbol. Grim also shared posts by Sulaiman Ahmed a friend of neo-nazi Nick Fuentes. And Drop Site recently outright posted right-wing Tucker Carlson as if he is a credible source for anything. Grim also interviewed Tim Dillon, who once dressed as an antisemitic caricature of a Jew that's "controlling the media".
The totenkopf, specifically. I cannot tell you the literally COUNTLESS skull-and-bones tats I have seen on everything from Deadheads to Jolly Roger flags that have fuck all to do with Nazis. A tat on an oyster farmer doesn't bother me a bit, and given this administration's fondness for all things Nazi, including Pete Hegseth's own array of actual Nazi tattoos, I think you're looking in the wrong place for offense.
But hey, if you're gonna go there and start equating appearance with substance, then what I really have a serious problem with is Republican Senator Susan Collins' pearls.
She prefers clutching them to doing anything practical at all, except advancing the Republican party's goal of abdicating their own constitutional powers to a would-be dictator as he destroys everything we care about, and right this very second is credibly threatening to wipe Iran off the map. Those pearls have absorbed a great deal of Sen. Collins' power, authority, and duty that could have and should have gone to support her constituents and her country, and they are a disgrace.
Remember when she said she was certain Trump had learned his lesson? I do. And when when Trump officially kicks off WWIII -- if he has not done so already -- I will remember that woman's useless, corrupt fucking pearls that helped put him there and keep him there.
If I were a Mainer, I'd vote for Platner in a heartbeat.
EDITED to add links
Not only is the tattoo not just a Totenkopf, but Platner was well aware that it's a Nazi symbol.

Oh, the horror. Oh, the tragedy.
Thing is, Graham Platner doesn't ACT like a Nazi. He acts like a man who cares about his community, his state, and his country, which he actually served as a soldier, and during which service he obtained said tattoo.
Our president, on the other hand, IS an actual fucking Nazi -- whose own military service, which he called his "own personal Vietnam," consisted of a bout of syphilis -- and who has installed an actual fascist government, and you're trembling in your Mary Janes over one ex-soldier-turned-fisherman's ink, lol.
I note you have not a single word to say about Hegseth's actual Nazi tattoos, (archive link) much less the administration in place that is fascist by definition.
Nope, you're going against the one guy that actually cares about his neighbors and his state, trotting out squeals of disapproval over a single (very common) tattoo like it's 1955 and you're his grandmother afraid he's going to hell for it, lol.
Let me go cry in terror and moral outrage now because I saw a grown man's ink, lol. Oh, wait . . . that's not my position, that's yours.
Note: Out of many articles available on the far-right associations of Hegseth's tattoos, I specifically chose Der Spiegel because they know Nazis better than anyone else. It translates easily. Here's the upshot: "It is unlikely that Pete Hegseth would not be aware of all this: "Crusader symbolism" today primarily represents right-wing radical or even right-wing extremist sentiment." Have fun.
Fettermam and Sinema didn't act like conservatives before being elected either.
I hope you are right about Platner, but until then, I'm skeptical of him.
No. Ryan Grim is doing some amazing work.
Great counter argument.
Sorry, I guess I didn't see your comment as a real argument; at least, not about Ryan Grim. You just mentioned a few other newsworthy people you don't like (not that I agree with those individual assessments), whom Ryan had interactions with, and then tried to pin those individual's attributes on him. Personally, I believe its good when journalists cover newsworthy people and events, especially when these topics are being intentionally ignored by mainstream media like the Mossad-Epstein connections in this OP.
Also, one of your criticisms was that he shared a post. I honestly had a real-world chuckle at that. Should we downvote or ban anyone on Lemmy for posting a Trump tweet, for platforming a fascist?
Overall, I've been very impressed with Ryan. He's doing real on-the-ground journalism, such as his recent trip to Cuba to document the human-rights abuses resulting from the US blockade. Also, he's covering a lot of Israeli atrocities that mainstream media won't touch, and sharing Iranian perspectives during the illegal US-Iran war. I would be a lot less informed about geopolitical issues without Ryan's journalism, and I'm thankful for his work.
still not worse than cannibalistic pedophile murderers on their way to destroy our world
So just because there is something or someone worse we shouldn't criticise others anymore or what are you implying?
please don't tempt them... every time we say it can't get any worse... these subhuman abominations take it as a fucking challenge. At this point in time if proof was shown saying that they ate the babies while they were still alive... I would not even be surprised anymore. at this point in time... if you can think of something vile and evil... chances are they already did it and we just don't know yet.
So now we're openly using Nazi vocabulary as well?
