I like oysters and you certainly get it's taste when you dump these whole vs. digging it out bit by bit.

Bro, do you even Oyster Rockefeller?

My position is that the oyster becomes a garnish with overcomplicated preps like that. If you want the flavor of an oyster, you get a few oysters on the half shell. If you don’t care about the actual flavor of the oyster, you get Rockefeller (or stuffed clams, or whatever). It’s like the difference between drinking coffee black and dumping a shitload of cream and sugar in it - youre gonna taste the coffee a lot more clearly and subtly in the former case.
