Returning to beehaw in what feels like ages. (beehaw.org)

It has been about a year since I was last here on beehaw or the fediverse in general. Last time I was here the fediverse was a chaotic place where you didn't know if your home instance would last another week without randomly getting shut down. I am curious what has changed in my long absence.

Lemm.ee shut down a while ago due to the admins getting burned out, and a few new instances are around now. Otherwise its been pretty stable :)

Edit: oh! And we have a new compatible software on the block, Piefed!

I remember piefed being basically a proof of concept. I think beehaw was considering migrating to it at one point. I might give it a try.

We are going to be testing Piefed soon. If we believe it to be a better option than Lemmy, then we will migrate to it.

I just switched to piefed now that it has app support that thunder has implemented, I'm pretty happy with it for my new home instance :)
