How do i deal with the crippling frustration and self esteem issues i have about my band, and nobody larger being able or willing to celebrate our 10 year anniversary, while still feeling motivated enough to put on something of my own to celebrate 10 years of sticking with and building something on a personal level?

That's tough, comrade. Lacking recognition in those "ahead" in certain metrics can certainly be crushing, regardless of field. It's something we can all relate to. However, I think having a solid foundation in yourself, and telling the world that you made it, can often be satisfying in its own way. You've stuck with a project for 10 years, that's longer than I've been able to stick with anything. It's incredibly impressive, and frankly awe-inspiring. The recognition may not come from your peers, but know that you've got at least 2 people here that think you're cool as fuck!

Appreciate that comrade. It just feels crushing sometimes that none of this has turned out how I imagined. Didn't even want to hit it big or anything, just recognition from a local band.

I'm gonna pop in cause we operate in similar circles. You've been in the ssme band for 10 years, in punk/metal terms for a band not making money primarily by playing that is a long time for a band to last. I've personally gotten pretty cynical regarding the diy punk touring situation where its so heavily based in big fests now and putting up more small bands doing smaller shows has really gotten lost. The bigger bands from my town only play Montreal and fests theyre flown out to at this point. I just make weird music as a hobby now and collaborate with 1 other person on occasion and play noise once or twice a month under a bridge. Im just.lokomg what I do for what it is.

Yeah, ive got a lot to untangle in my head about whether I wanna keep doing it. Im also mopey cause none of the bigger bands give a shit about us. Its fun to play guitar sometimes, but yeah. Gotta sort out my feelings on my own. Dont even get me started on the scene.
