i got off social media about 5 years ago, excluding HB.
it was super weird at first, having much fewer apps to click on when playing a quick level of the "gotta kill 5 minutes" game. and letting go of FOMO about not being clued into the Latest Cultural Trendsβ’ required intention.
but i swear to god, the garbage you all find out there and repost reminds me how much it all sucks. and how much effort i had to put into keeping my feeds slightly less annoying. which the algo always found a way around, years of course.
because emotion = engagement = monetization.
