This made me curious if the CIA ever accidentally did that, and I did some looking around. I couldn't find one.
Far right politicians are usually big fans of the US for some reason, which makes the US not want to remove them. I wonder why that is?
Actually they did in the dominican republic one time, overthrowing their fascist puppet and allowing a "liberal anti-communist" in but then undid it when the guy tried to do anything positive, shot him, couped haiti, and reinstalled the fascist from earlier.
Panama in 1989, too!
(Can’t find the Haitian coups you mean, there’s a LOT)
Trujillo was the dictator so actually might be the dominican republic
shit mixed up my coups, haiti was a different few
its kinda sad that its hard to keep track of how many
Killing hope, read it
they helped nassar remove the king in egypt that one time. They also named their operation "Project FF (fat fucker)", the main reason for this was farouk was a complete incompetent moron for a puppet. Too lazy, hedonistic, scummy, and in general the most incompetent ruler ever, so before any actual anti-imperialist revolution happened, they tried getting more competent people. Nassar tricked the CIA so that was funny.
There's a few other comments here with other examples. I admit, I only did a cursory 5 minute search. It seems that in all cases, they tricked the CIA though, so the original point stands. It's just funny.
Because the US is right leaning?
because the US has always put far right governments into power in order to suppress the left. always. without exception.
Except when they get duped, because the us is run by failsons of failsons
Only leaning?
The political options to choose from are right or far right. You can choose between the republicans 20 years ago, or the republicans of today.
American is one of the most right wing countries in the world, only surpassed by Israel and Ukraine.
It's unfair to leave Poland out of that list. Israel at least has a socdem party in parliament, Poland starts at libertarianism and goes right from there.
I don't see what factions exist as important. But who rules. The existence of this faction may be tolerated but the fascists are in power and have been for 50 years where they've created an apartheid society and a deeply fascist culture. That is not really the case for Poland, which seems to be in the fledgling stage of fascist takeover.
Conservative or regressive
... right leaning... as if it's gentle as fuck and super duper teeny tiny from the "center"...
The US IS the right. The US is like a fucking missile that's taken off and violently exploded through the furthest part of the right of the spectrum, going arbitrarily further endlessly without limit.
All right-wing governments and trends lead back to the US. All roads to the right lead to the US. Stop using soft language for the worst empire in world history.
You can be a Nazi and yet lean even more to the right.
Well the US did get tricked into supporting the CPC so, once at least. Castro also had some media support at least early on.
