MODERATORS
You know, looking back getting banned for saying "fuck trump and Obama" was a blessing in disguise. I still miss my cheap knockoff watch sub though :(
All my email addresses are perma-banned for replying to right wingers. I had death threats, people questioning my sanity and calling me slurs. When I tried to respond with even an iota of the same energy - banned. On Reddit, the right wing is king.
Yup. Despite all their virtue signaling, they give miles more leeway to chuds. Funny enough, despite my decade plus on there arguing with right winged idiots, I never got a "KYS" message. But only two months on here some hexbear bitch popped my cherry because I had the audacity to claim Hasan Piker did in fact shock his dog for the crime of wanting to move out of frame.
This is my second attempt at re-joining Lemmy after experiencing the same brother.
It sucks having to moderate yourself online so hard when you're passionate, genuinely care and want to share the uncomfortable truths of the world, but the consequence of a 24/7 deluge of negativity when you have a life to live is just not worth it hey.
I've been a bit of a hermit online and offline since the pandemic, 2026 is my year to try to strategically begin getting back out there!
I believe in you homie. But sadly this is my form of social interaction cause I work hardware security in secure facilities, which means I vastly work alone. Well this and Uber, but the people getting Uber in my state, are usually not people I see eye to eye with politically. So I usually just talk food, or about my kitty Furryosa.
Well for your sake I hope you find some choice places you can enjoy and be yourself online <3
If you're into sharing pics of Furryosa, Pixelfed could be a good one to check out.
Thanks homie!
The chuds stir the shit and create clicks for cash.
reddit is run by nazis, for nazis.
You were banned from Reddit for saying that? I feel like I've said worse and somehow haven't got one yet.
Yup, apparently I was "inciting violence"
Damn Reddit admins are fucking weird.
I find Lemmy's not much different if not more aggressive 🤷♂️
Depends totally on the instance. I don't find my admins to be that way, but we're also on a pretty similar ideological wavelength so I don't know how it would be if that wasn't the case.
Lemmy's aren't much better. Despite being pretty far left, I'm banned from the progressive politics sub for completely fabricated reasons. And for context, I often get into arguments with .ml & hexbear users, and aside from some random communities I've never interacted with, they haven't banned me from much.
The role just attracted the wrong type of person.
I’m splitting hairs, but there’s no such thing as a lemmy admin. There are instance admins that can only moderate their own instances.
I meant community moderator. My bad for any confusion.
Yeah but that's mods. The nature of community moderation means there will always be abuse, but there's always more communities to join. But here you do get to choose your admins in a similar manner. Thankfully I chose well despite picking somewhat haphazardly.
Agreed.
Have you considered starting a cheap watch sub? I recently bought a quartz watch from the 70s for cheap and I’m refurbishing it (new strap, had the watchmaker oil the mechanics for 10 bucks). I’d hang out in that sub!
