In short:

Ouyen in Victoria's Mallee was widely tipped to get close to 50 degrees Celsius during a prolonged heatwave last month.

Despite widespread interest on the potentially record-setting maximum, the town's official top temperature remains unconfirmed due to data concerns.

What's next?

The Bureau of Meteorology said daily maximum temperature submissions from a manual weather station did not meet quality control checks.

I’m sorry Australia as us British Columbians are still dead set on using gas stoves, complaining about the 2040 ban on ice, refusing to fund public transit, supporting oil heating and exporting LNG even though they’re destroying the world.
