That said, in terms of bad stuff we've done to El Salvador specifically, we have propped up super brutal right wing governments there for decades specifically because it's the northern most South American country and DC wants them to be a choke point where every wouldbe migrant from the area can get kidnapped and brutalized far enough away from the US that our journalists won't ever notice.
