People in Beehaw are nice (thank you all for that), but I am put off of the idea of reddit-like sites because of how toxic Reddit became (and also because of it lumping all USians as you-know-what), and when I select "All" for all lemmy instances in post view, it brings back bad memories of reddit.

I am very sorry if i anger anybody in Beehaw. this is also the reason why I am not active in beehaw.

Over half of USA's population voted for this. They absolutely stirred the pot and are absolutely xenophobic. It is not xenophobic for the rest of the world to hold a grudge against these voters. My tolerance does not extend to the intolerant.

False. Just over half of the voting population voted for this guy (and not necessarily any of what he's done for the last year).

The orange turd won with 77,302,580 votes. I don't have the number of registered voters in 2024 handy, but using the population of 348,320,255, that's 22% of the total population who supported this guy. And even some of that 22% is starting to sour because things have gone so far off the rails, so I'd further estimate that 19% of the population are the true die hards who will follow him to the end.

This isn't even factoring in those who would have voted one way or the other but were ineligible to vote or didn't bother to vote. It also doesn't factor in the Electoral College or people who didn't understand how the Electoral College works and threw their vote away on a 3rd party or abstained.

You're judge and jurying us all over the actions/behavior of maybe 19% of the population. If discovered a new species of bird and 1 out of 5 were red while the other 4 were brown, we wouldn't classify the species as red birds.

Notably, it's "just under half" of votes cast for President were cast for Donald Trump. He won without a majority of the vote, getting only 49.8% of the votes cast: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_United_States_presidential_election

He is not, and never was, a "popular" President.

Adding more to your point, voter turnout was 64%, so less than half of less than two-thirds of registered voters voted for him.

Good point about the proportions. I know the Republicans have done crazy gerrymandering and try every trick to prevent blue voters from voting. I'll reiterate that I do hold a grudge precisely against Trump voters. The whole world knew what he was up to. He kept going on about it. I do not lump all Americans with the MAGA crowd obviously. It's unfortunate that some do. You have to understand that my country being under threat of invasion by the USA is kind of heavy.
