I found this Guardian Article pretty comprehensive. In includes and explains the uncertainty about the status.

Because I've seen conflicting reports and I don't want to inadvertently spread misinfo.
That's what caveats are for. Also if it's a dodgy source, people will definitely let you know. Unsourced information may as well be misinformation.
