Who the hell downvotes these? Anyhoo, I had a good chuckle.
I try to give the benefit of the doubt and assume sometimes someone doesn't notice while scrolling.
I don't know if it's how I hold my phone or what, but sometimes I accidentally hit the down arrow and don't realize it until I scroll back by.
Raccoons "swipe to downvote" sometimes feels super sensitive. Like, I don't even see the post slide over at all, but it took it as activating.
Maybe they're upset at the original Chinese myth of the little mermaid. Or maybe the hate Disney. Or maybe they have a phobia of water or burning boats. Who's to say

I think there are tons of myths in many cultures using mermaids. But AFAIK, the tale is danish.
Oh sorry I must've been thinking about something else I'd heard about on the myths and legends podcast years ago. Maybe Mulan
