I used to not have this pet peeve. Then one of my coworkers mentioned it was one of his during a conversation about acquiring other people's pet peeves. And now I have the same pet peeve because I see it used all the time.

The phrase "beg the question" is often used to mean "strongly prompt the question", a usage distinct from that in logic.[5][6][7][8]

This usage is criticized for diluting the original logical meaning of the phrase.[9][10][11]
