    I think no matter how you slice it you could work the stats to go your way on that, but the main point is the French were like a pretty unstoppable land power for 500 years, had 2 bad decades in the 1900s and never lived it down somehow

    When politicians tried to increase the retirement age in France they protested every day and shut the country down until it was reversed.

    The American government has been shut down for a month and people who aren't even being paid are continuing to show up for work. Once every couple months they'll gather in a polite group and say "please stop doing Human Rights Abuses" before carefully cleaning up and going back to work the next day in order to not be too big of an inconvenience.

    I wish Americans knew how to fight like the French.
